I absolutely believe in the power of…giving back. My own experience about all the blessings I've had in my life is that the more I give away, the more that comes back. That is the way life works, and that is the way energy works. ![]()
Founded in 1997, Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) trains prison inmates to raise puppies to be service dogs for the disabled and explosive detection canines for law enforcement. The puppies live in prison with their inmate raisers from the age of eight weeks to twenty months. To date, PBB has successfully raised 79 guide dogs, 199 explosive detection canines (including a few personnel/suicide bomber detection dogs) and 17 service dogs that have gone to serve wounded veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and special needs children. Through their work, inmates give and receive unconditional love, take on extraordinary responsibility and embrace opportunities to contribute to society rather than take from it - all while they prepare for their lives post-incarceration.
This does not set me apart in any way from millions of people who give every year to their favorite charities and have their own very personal reasons of doing so; but Dogasaur.com is a website for dogs, and the charities I’ve chosen dogasaur to represent are some of the highest-rated (via charity watchdog organizations Charity Navigator (CN) and AIP) in the area of canine/animal-related causes. My assumption is that dog lovers and vendors are going to come to this site and if they want to donate a portion of their payment to a cause that helps a personal passion of theirs—dogs—they are going to be guided in the proper direction by Dogasaur.
These 6 charities are all rated 4 out of 4 stars. They cover different sub-categories of dog-related charities. I believe there is something in here for everyone to get on-board towards giving our dogs the best life possible.
