The boxer that I was considering adopting is not in a rescue, he is with his owner and is been put for adoption. Unsocialized?

that the dog has not been socialised properly. It was my first meeting and the dog lunged at my male friend and tore his jacket. The owner said that the dog was showing his protective dominant side but I think otherwise. Anyway after giving a lot of thought to the adoption of this boxer. I have decided not to proceed.
